Thank you to everyone who attended our event today. Our April luncheon, titled "Cross Training for Communicators" was presented by our guest speaker, Linda Thomas Brooks, PRSA National's Chief Executive Officer.
Thomas Brooks started her presentation with the idea that our future business leaders will be public relations strategists. "All roads lead to pr strategists," she suggested.
Her presentation also provided research from the 2024 Global Communications Report from USC Annenburg to review how business leaders, pr/comm professionals and others view particular current events, topics and how comfortable we are with responding to these topics.
She noted that "PRSA does not have the authority or even have the goal to have positions on these various topics. In fact, PRSA exists to help practitioners do their job better."
There is no doubt about it, PR professionals like doing hard things (that's why you chose this profession, no?)!
Thomas Brooks also addressed the importance of cross training. It is important for PR practitioners to bring a holistic perspective to business challenges. The world around us being created by the language we use.
Finally, our speaker talked about the benefits PRSA National provides to our members and the industry as a whole, and what their current focuses are.
