Name: Geoff Zindren

Job Title: Director of Communications and Public Relations
Organization: Kings Dominion

Year Joined PRSA Richmond: 2014

Tell us a little about the work you do.

As Director of Communications I am responsible for all external communications from the park. This includes earned media about events and happenings, as well as special communications from our corporate team.

What do you find to be the most valuable part of your PRSA membership and why?

I find networking with other PR professionals and the monthly luncheons to be exceptionally valuable. The networking because it keeps me in touch with others in the field who I can exchange ideas with. That’s something I miss moving from an agency to an in-house PR firm, and PRSA provides that opportunity to connect with people having similar experiences in our jobs. The luncheons help with staying informed on relevant issues related to PR. I can trace several initiatives and successes at work directly back to information from a luncheon presentation.

Do you have any exciting plans this summer, either professional projects or personal trips/adventures?

We always have exciting plans going on at the park! We have the recently announced Food & Wine Festival, and that’s the first of several exciting events we are announcing this year. We’re also preparing for next year’s 50th anniversary, and stay tuned a little later this summer as more exciting news is in the works.

What books, podcasts, music, or movies are you enjoying or excited to check out this summer?

Slow Productivity by Cal Newport iOS the most recent nonfiction book I enjoyed. Cal also has a great podcast.

I was also recently sick and dove into Mick Herron’s Slough House series of books as my fiction bender while I recovered.

I’m also looking forward to watching team USA in the Olympics this year.
